Top Rated Exterminator in Wellington

Wellington is a popular home and tourist destination in Palm Beach, Florida. With a population of over 62,000 people in its 35 acres, Wellington would never fit the traditional definition of a village. However, the popular city was officially named the Village of Wellington in 1995 and the name remains intact. While Wellington shares the sought after mild temperatures found in other cities in Southern Florida, the area distinguishes itself in many other ways. A uniquely rural area, Wellington boasts quiet neighborhoods, popular parks and beaches, and is a major equestrian events location.

Wellington's Rich History

To look at Wellington today, you would never imagine the city was entirely composed of swampland before 1950. In the early 1950s, Charles Oliver Wellington purchased 18,000 acres of swampland and dubbed it Flying Cow Ranch. This unique name was actually a combination of the investor's initials and his love of avionics (although, flying cows would definitely give another explanation to the popularity of the area). State legislation in 1953 provided drainage and flood control to the area, changing the swampy landscape into rich farmland. Tracts of the land were sold to local farmers, and Wellington enjoyed the distinction of being the world's largest strawberry patch.

In the 1970s, the area changed again when much of it was purchased by land developer Jim Nell. With this new development, golf courses, parks, and residential neighborhoods began to populate the area. Wellington's equestrian interest didn't begin until 1977 when underdeveloped land was purchased by Gould Florida Inc. and the International Polo Club Palm Beach was built.

With so many inviting options, it's no wonder the population has exploded in Wellington.

Year Long Comfort

The mild temperatures are an undeniably great reason so many people are drawn to Wellington. While we get our fair share of rain, the city boasts an average of 230 days of sunny skies each year. The January low is a balmy 56 degrees and it's the perfect location for residents who detest snow.

Since the winter temperatures seem too good to be true, many people imagine Wellington summers are probably unbearable. Nope. Average July highs in Wellington are easily tolerable at around 91 degrees, which is only a few degrees higher than the average U.S. location. It's easy to see how people get so comfortable in Wellington.

A Horse Lover's Paradise

Wellington is actually referred to as the horse capital of the United States. Wellington's Palm Beach International Equestrian Center hosts the yearly Winter Equestrian Festival, which is the largest horse show in the world. The event spans from January to April and attracts the best horseback riders in the country to compete for millions of dollars in prizes. Competitors of all ages participate in the 12-week series of competitions.

Of course, Wellington isn't the horse capital of the U.S. only during the festival. The area is home to hundreds of horse farms, riding trails, and local equestrian events. Whether you're interested in climbing right on the horse, or a carriage ride is more your style, entertainment is never far away in Wellington for horse lovers.

Enjoying the Outdoors

Wellington may be known best for horses, but there is no shortage of outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy. The atmosphere of Wellington is reminiscent of a hometown neighborhood enjoying summer vacation throughout the entire year. A wealth of invigorating and relaxing activities are always available for residents and vacationers of all ages.

Parks

Whether you're searching for a neighborhood playground, a nature preserve, or anything in between, Wellington is home to many wonderful parks. With 87 acres and 26 community parks, sports enthusiasts will be happy to find baseball fields, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, and even shuffleboard courts. Playgrounds are a great place to get the kids out for a day of fun, and of course, popular water parks are a main attraction in the summer. Local wildlife sanctuaries offer tours with amazing opportunities to see wild animals up close and personal.

Activities

Wellington is home to many golf courses and country clubs where members enjoy activities like golf, tennis, and swimming throughout the year. For members searching for more relaxing activities; crafts, arts, spas, and various great dining options are enjoyable.

Fishing is also popular in Wellington. Whether it's a chartered boat tour with the whole family or a quiet evening at a local park, fishing is a welcome activity enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Fishing often offers great opportunities to glimpse other wildlife and water creatures as well. Sea turtles, sharks, sea birds, and even whales are sometimes spotted during fishing trips.

Many special events are enjoyed throughout the year. Wellington Amphitheater often hosts free events for families including movie nights, concerts, dances, parades, and ceremonies. With so many options to choose from, the biggest problem for Wellington residents may be finding enough hours to enjoy everything.

Eliminating Pesky Intruders

For the same reasons so many people make Southern Florida their home, the area is equally enticing to insects and other annoying pests. Mild winters and warm summers make it easy for insects to flourish and thrive. The equestrian population and beautiful gardens offer these pests an easy diet to keep them happy throughout the year. Luckily, this is a problem with an easy fix. Routine, targeted pest control will keep your home, yard, and garden free of unwelcome guests and prevent future infestations.

Ants, rodents, roaches, and rodents are just a few of the pests who enjoy the warm temperatures of Southern Florida. These types of pests can quickly become more than just a nuisance in your home or garden. Keeping these unwelcome visitors out of your home only requires a quick phone call. Protective Pest Control is a family owned business who wants to help you protect your family from invasive insects. Our experts offer a variety of EPA approved pest control options to tackle every pest problem. Indoor and outdoor solutions are available to protect your home, garden, and lawn.
